    I think this film is just great. There is a fundamental charm which even in more morose scenes, carries over. I think the overall chemistry between the four lead men support this and with the movie being about getting drunk there is an inherent cheeky schoolboy element to it.

    Though there is a lot to learn to it, the film conveys that aesthetic of a Linklater hangout film, where it is just a joy to be in the company of these men, even if their study comes with peril. This film is brilliant for start to finish and is deserved of all its praise.

    Rating this movie four stars is the peacemaking middle ground in me. I really can't argue the competency of this film, like in all aspects. the production of this film is flawless. Directing, performance, cinematography and editing honestly hit everything they would hope to achieve and to great effect. Acting very much in vain to Lynne Ramsay's work but, bridged with Cronenbergs obvious upbringing.

    But, why I need to set a middle ground is that there is such an unnecessary…

    A very interesting examination of Fellini himself, however, that being said it felt undermined by watching through my television. As each existential scene, I found myself pausing and having to walk away with how I felt on it - this might be due to external factors, however.

    The scenes were beautifully crafted and well strung out and for great effect, which I loved. The film is emotive and bold but, personally didn't find that odd hollowed feeling which I found with La Dolce Vita, which made that film addictive to me.

    The main supporting trio worked well, each with their own eccentricities and style. Bouncing off each other, I think the characterisation is the best thing it's got going for it.

    However, I was a little underwhelmed by the action. This being my first Bruce Lee film, I was surprised to find out how choreographed the final product was. There was really no physical action or real combat. This is expected with 1970s Hollywood however, had the image of Bruce Lee…
