Extremely unsettling to an almost unbearable degree, but my god what a stupid plot. Harkers mum has to deliver a doll that has a metal ball in its head that actually has the devil in it, to people houses in order for them to murder themselves??? all for this textbook creepy guy who wears facial prosthetics who is motivated entirely by devil worship?? I guess??? Oh and we’re going to set the entire film up by saying that the protagonist…

Benediction 2021
Didn’t work for me. Found the stylistic choices uninteresting and just plainly bad. Hated the PowerPoint fade transitions, every minute Peter Capaldi was on screen felt disjointed, the use of random archival footage of war and rotting corpses was just lazy, and the middle part of this film was a complete slog. Saved in a few instances by the inclusion of the poetry of Sassoon and Owen, but not enough of this to make this film anywhere near enjoyable.
