  Beautiful movie. Kurosawa is a master filmmaker and this may be his magnum opus, at least in my opinion. This is cinema at its best.

  A relatively simple story but its visuals and its moments of quiet reflection on life, along with what life really means, is what makes it so meaningful to watch. All of the characters represent something and all seem to be recognizable even when you apply this to today.

  The theme and heart of this movie is probably why I love it so much: Life is brief but in our love and service to others do we find meaning.

  It felt like two movies in one. An epic leading to its climax and a courtroom drama. The world has been destroyed.

  Important story to tell and Scorsese does it again. Though it’s long, it’s gripping the whole time. Great performances. Great cinematography.
