This is the first truly GREAT video game movie adaptation. Immense respect to the source material, a hilarious dual-performance from Jim Carrey, and Keanu Reeves being the definitive Shadow (games included). It’s not only a ton of fun, but it’s well-written, well-acted, well-shot… you get it. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for video game movies.

Seeing this movie for the first time, 14 years after its release, I can safely say that The Social Network’s status as a modern classic is well deserved. The acting is fantastic across the board, with Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake, and company all delivering gripping, entertaining, and emotionally powerful performances. Aaron Sorkin’s script is funny, quotable, and hard-hitting when it needs to be. The movie’s pacing allows every scene to be meaningful, and the story never drags at any point.

It’s downright unbelievable how this didn’t win Best Picture in 2010, because The Social Network is one of the best movies of its generation.
