The Brutalist 2024
The Brutalist isn’t what I expected (I purposefully didn’t inquire too much about it).
It’s sold as this great American fresco, compared to films such as There Will Be Blood, but it turned out to be much more focused and intimate than I expected. All while articulating a message about the American dream vs the reality of immigration in the United States.

Random thoughts:
1) Is this basically the New German Cinema neo-noir father of Brokeback Mountain and Breaking Bad (I haven’t seen Brokeback Mountain)?
2) The photography is absolutely stunning. The warm light and vibrant colors turn each shot into an eye candy. It perfectly embodies the odd mix of styles and genres achieved by Wim Wenders. The marvelous 4K restoration probably does a lot of heavy lifting in that regard.
