    This was a must-see film for me, focusing on the early part of Dylan’s career up to his “going electric”. But I had very mixed feelings, after seeing it twice in 3 days. The musical performances by Timmy and Monica were extraordinary and very enjoyable. But the characterisation was thin and superficial and the film as a whole didn’t properly hang together, given the very choppy narrative. The Elle Fanning portrayal of Sylvie, in particular, was under-written and confusing. But…

    I really wanted to like this film but found it disappointing. While the life of Londoners in wartime 1940 was impressively portrayed, both characters and plot were curiously uninvolving. So overall it was worthy but dull, somehow missing its intended mark.

    Really wanted to like this film but found it quite disappointing. Funereal pace and very little plot, so full of padding. Seemed like more of an excuse to bring together again - after a 5 year break - the old cast and crew, who clearly loved working with each other. Quite liked the ultimate sign-off for Jesse. But the gun fight scene, amongst others, was a little ludicrous.
