Companion 2025
It was alright
Should've been better. I was a huge fan of Barbarian, but the storytelling in this is not at that same caliber. Gustavo carried the comedic factor. Character development was okay.
The most annoying part for me is I kept thinking about the Oscar winner for best live action short which was like the same concept. I was really annoyed that it won and so I was annoyed at this from the start.

Reviewing this on the shitter at work, which is apt because this was an alright movie but kind of shit the bed in the final third.
It has a lot of great aspects that lead to an intriguing and pretty captivating build up, but then everything is explained in one monologue. This always reads to me like bad story writing or maybe a last ditch effort to save time (which I do appreciate the length of the film) but alas.…

Animation Rules
There's a couple things I really loved about this film.
1. I feel that it celebrates animation's power in the grandiose and the subtle. One minute I was watching a massive prehistoric-like whale emerging from the water and the next I was studying the smallest movement in the cat's eyes.
2. I was a big fan of where they placed the line between the realistic and the abstract. It was right where it ought to be - dreamlike
