I like my social commentary as subtle as a hydrogen bomb so if you feel differently about that you probably won't like this.

Pleasantly surprised honestly after the hate it's getting on here. I enjoyed myself! Will Poulter is so good in everything, honestly Character Actor of our generation. And Téa Leoni gets to serve some delicious PowerSuit Mommy Bitch Realness.

That said the "homages" to Jurassic Park are really more just straight up stealing. So many horror shots directly ripped from JP in addition to some Kathryn Hahn winking gif references.

Mileage may vary but this is my kinda B movie.

Look at your life. Look at your choices.

Seriously Tomas is THE WORST. The big question throughout is whether he really believes his own reasons for what he does, or not.

And while I'm sympathetic to Agathe and Martin...ya gotta know the stove is gonna burn you. Question is, at what point is it no longer the stove's fault?

    A very Gen Z movie.

A cartoon that runs on video game logic. Heavy YouTube Poop influence. With the slightest sheen of arthouse respectability.

In a way truer than any documentary about 18th century fur-traders could be. In another way, Furry Jack-ass.

Can't decide on a rating for this.

On the one hand, it's gorgeous and has a tremendous palpable five-star first act.

But the second act is a bit muddled and third deflated. The very end is fantastic and brilliant but ugh.

Too much of the second act hinges on the film's weakest performer. (Aaron Taylor Johnson) And the tension is largely dissolved by the inevitability of it all. Put simply there are no surprises.

But God that first act rocks.…
