Oh, Babylon. You broke my heart.
2 hours of this movie get 4.5 stars. Perfect performances, highly sick structure anchored by recurrent parties/technical marvels with tasteful plot-moving developments – seriously masterful stuff.
Did the director change for the last hour? It loses almost all style in favor of very direct explanations of the messaging we are to take away and way too many unearned emotional payoff attempts, and I was very disappointed by certain sequences that came near the end-credits.
