  Well this movie tried to walk the line and it was still funny, but definitely bleeds over into problematic and unsettling with their friendship.

  The first half was nailing it with framing him as being “abducted,” but this kid is still a child mentally and them being “friends” in the second half it got a little… ick. Basically, good start on trying to invert the stereotype but missed the mark by the end IMO.
