Refreshingly poignant to see the existential dread that comes with the slow death of the world made personal in conjunction with the equally existential dread of childhood’s end and all that comes with it like high school graduation and friendship disillusionment. Rightfully bleak yet connected by the tenderness of a uniquely unpretentious coming of age piece, Happyend is one for the books. Would make a great companion piece with Fallen Leaves or to a lesser extent Do Not Expect Too…
