    Three disjointed thoughts.
    1. If The Lion King is Hamlet-but-it’s-lions, this is Moses. An orphaned boy rescued from the riverbank ends up challenging the power of his new brother, the destined king. There’s even epic biblical water-related sequences.
    2. Hans Zimmer is the MVP, and he’s not even credited.

This is it. The apotheosis of the Merchant-Ivory-Prawer Jhabvala period dramas with a radiant Emma Thompson plus impeccable supporting turns from Vanessa Redgrave and HBC.
Is Anthony Hopkins too old or is the Wilcox/Margaret coupling meant to be a smidge on this side of uncomfortable, I’m never quite sure. What I am sure of is that the Richard Robbins score really does need to the released on digital. The piano theme for Howard’s End needs to be more well-loved.
    An utter triumph.
