Grizzly Man is one of those rare documentaries that functions on multiple levels…it's both an intimate, empathic portrait of Timothy Treadwell, a man deeply (and dangerously) obsessed with living among grizzly bears, and a philosophical back-and-forth between Treadwell’s romanticized view of nature and Werner Herzog’s stark, often brutal realism.
