Filming is impressive - entirely improvised scenes and staging of the Mikato requires appreciation. Felt way too long and bloated. Improv expects humor but there’s little of it here. Scenes drag. Characters are interesting and eccentric. The Gilbert’s relationship and Mrs. Gilbert’s performance are the most powerful aspects of the story. Cinematography uses the sets and framing nicely. Builds really strong tension throughout - especially in the beginning with “fake outs” when you think the bike will be stolen.
Good moral dilemmas. Well explored.
Really good child-actor (Enzo Staiola) - story shows heartbreaking destruction of the child through the mimicking of his father and the destruction…Translated from by -
