Hospital 1970
Hospital is incredible. The way Wiseman dissects the hospital as an institution only to reassemble it into a frankensteined caricature of humanity is genuine and beautiful.
The main aspect I love about Wiseman's observational docs is the same thing that keeps me excited about the work of Harmony Korine; That focus on creating an immersive portrait through loosely connected moments, observing humanity rather than focusing on linear narrative. By omitting traditional story structure Wiseman asks the audience to interpret the footage themselves, giving each viewer an intimate and individual experience. It's exciting and personal in a way that's hard for me to describe. Very very good.
