High hopes but it didn't hit. The scifi stuff is fun and Pattinson is really great, but the religious cult dressing feels goofy, and the Ruffalo/Collette characters are written in such a heavy-handed way that by the end of the movie I was groaning every time they talked.

Went in with my heart closed expecting to hate it because of my past experiences with Lynch, and ended up very pleasantly surprised. Typically I find his films without substance, trafficking in vibes without ideas.
