Genuinely gorgeous visually. A spectacle of animation with a charming world and quirky character designs, but it’s unfortunately a bit too overindulgent in its world and eccentricity. The relationships in the film are extremely rushed, and I’m left feeling a little disappointed that I couldn’t get myself to like it more. I very much wanted to enjoy it, but it just didn’t quite land for me.

…I’m not gonna pretend like my reviews have any level of objectivity, but I really have a hard time seeing what people see in these films. Just because the story’s disjointed doesn’t make it high art, and I don’t think these movies even consider themselves high art. They feel like dumb fun action flicks made by a famous director.
The fight choreography’s impressive, but there are so many stretches in this movie where my eyes glazed over bored. I understand…
