  I gave the first Fantastic Beasts film a chance because it introduced us to new characters, and was only the start of its world-building. But after a strong start in this sequel, the middle hour takes too long to set up subsequent drama regarding Creedence, the Queenie and Jacob love story, and the battle Grindelwald is waging on everyone. It feels like a second preview into the world of Fantastic Beasts, with more exposition than plot that forwards the story.…

  BEST PICTURE WINNERS COUNTDOWN: THE FINISH LINE

  This came out the same year as Sunset Blvd. and is also as sharp in its commentary, and vicious in its dialogues between the characters. From one Joseph to another, you make me proud, Mr. Mankiewicz. Maybe a tad long, but those last 15 minutes are perfection.

  AND WITH THAT, I have now seen all the Best Picture Oscar winners!!

  The Terminator 1984

  Watching this movie after reading about the guerrilla filmmaking involved makes it an interesting viewing, and you can kind of see some scenes where they feel rushed through and chaotic, but that’s ok for me because it adds to the tense atmosphere throughout.
