With regards to my expectations that I had for it, I was kinda let down. This is not to say that I hated the movie, I just really wanted to LOVE it like I did with Bong Joon Ho’s other works.

I really wish that Mel Gibson being an adamant anti-bigot and American law enforcement/governemnt standing up to rich, evil racist white South Africans were not just two of the other many outrageous things from this movie that can’t seem to happen in real life.

When Izzy said he was “in mourning for my ass!”, let me tell you, I really felt that.

It does fall very short of being a “perfect sequel” and a truly great follow up to the first. Despite the shortcomings regarding the often talked about very dated CG and the shoe horned in kid, it still maintains something resembling the beautifully campy, swashbuckling horror-comedy escapades of the first. And to completely write this off as “movie BAD” for whatever reason…
