Rogue One: A Star Wars Story 2016
Sequels always suck.
Unless it's this one.
If we're going to continue to be stuck in prequel/reboot hell, aspiring screenwriters and directors across the world should study this and figure out how it pulls off what it does.
My read: it doesn't really try to answer that many questions or explain things. And fully reverences the original source material.
That said, the CGI face rotoscoping still ain't there yet. Icck.

But why not a higher rating?
Because he did a very serious disservice to the wife at the heart of this movie, IMHO. Sure, she has a few more lines than Chastain's character in Tree of Life...but not by much. And while her role influencing the lead character is laid out in dialogue--voice-over, of course--it doesn't even begin to plumb the depths of that transformation in the real life story, as even a cursory glance at Wikipedia…
