  i have not stopped thinking about this film for the past year

  i cannot overstate the personal impact this film has had on me, my view on film, view on life - i cant even put it all into words. no ending has ever left me with such a profound sense of introspection and almost emptiness

  its the idea that we dont know what will happen and have no control beyond just ourselves and sometimes everyone is the worst person…

  Disingenuous and disinterested, James Mangold is either afraid or unable to investigate Dylan in a nuanced light (heavily leaning towards unable). He holds Dylan/Chalamet at arm's length in reverence on a disengaged high pedestal. Putting aside historical accuracy, the rote story is molded into a convenient and digestible form that muddles Dylan's journey, his relationships, and his own multi-faceted identity.

  Given how much the film centers on relationships, the film is awfully solipsistic in favor of Dylan. It irks me…

  hmmmm a pervasive and methodical glance of the rotting and corruption of the nuclear family and american culture - cannot be more explicit with picture of clinton and nixon. its formal elements are strong and bare, guised under religious undertones.

  the people yearn for kiyoshi kurosawa. i cant help but draw comparison to kurosawa and his raw tones and thematics. silly how overblown the critics are - Chime came out this year!!

  love love the wides - simple, empty and maddening. not to mention the cast, inspiring performances all around!
