I went into The Last Dance completely blind and was pleasantly surprised that it is so… feminist? Truly a W for the girlies.
The funeral industry is rarely a popular choice to center a story around, which made The Last Dance already intriguing as an idea. Plot-wise the flow was pretty decent - a rookie from the wedding industry transitions into the funeral industry, employs a typical event management approach, screws up, and learns some valuable lessons along the way.…
Sigh.
I'm generally a big fan of Seinens ever since The Pet Girl of Sakurasou, so I really wanted to like this. I did for a while, then I didn't.
I could see where they were heading with the show - the kind of atmosphere they were trying to create, the themes they were trying to explore, the blend of coming-of-age and romance show it was meant to be - but the overall execution was fairly poor.

I may have just watched Midsommar yesterday but true horror is the age gap between Scarlett Johansson and Bill Murray.
Oh, you're visiting Japan for a week and you're upset about not understanding the people around you? Maybe learn some phrases? Go cry about it.
Also, since saying xenophobic things wasn't enough, they cheated on their spouses too.
If it wasn't for how fascinating Tokyo and its people are, I probably wouldn't have finished this movie. I had little interest in the characters, but I did enjoy their adventures around this lovely city.
P/S: Bill Murray was 53. ScarJo was 19. One-nine. Who approved this casting?
