Great fun and visually stunning but last third let it down for me. Dug the homoerotic vibes and the film made me think a lot about The Talented Mr Ripley. This could be a compliment but comparatively, Ripley is a far superior film for those fond of a smouldering slow-burn like me! Also not sure what’s happened to Barry, he’s all sexy and stuff?

Catch the Fair One 2021
Watched in preparation for Kali Reis in the new season of True Detective as I found her arc of boxing champion to indie film actress intriguing. The film was probably just OK but her performance is what really shines. Very impressed. Also always great to see attention being brought to these kinds of issues.

Strangely I enjoyed Ethan Hawke in this film and stranger still I did not enjoy Julianne Moore so much. Greta Gerwig is heaven and I wanted more of Maya Rudolph and Bill Hader as a couple - They should have had their own movie.
Passed the six-laugh test with flying colours; the scene involving artificial insemination and an unexpected knock at the door was a particular favourite. This is no ‘Frances Ha’ but if you like Noah Baumbach’s back catalogue you will probably enjoy this too.Translated from by -
