Youth (Spring) 2023
Biggest takeaway here is that Chinese people have been making as much, or even more money than many Europeans for years now. I know that for the target audience of Wang Bing movies, the American and Western European educated middle class, the numbers thrown around in this film might seem shockingly low, but for the rest of us it's the opposite. If you take into account the much lower cost of living in most of China, these youth are actually not doing bad at all.

Dogtooth 2009
Really grew on me as it went on. It has that vintage Yorgos vibe that I didn't get in the Poor Things.
In preparation for my trip to Greece I'll try to watch some Greek cinema in the coming month. If anybody got movies that aren't Greek but are set in ancient Greece, please share! I'll post a list of my watchlist so far.

Nobody Knows 2004
I appreciate Koreeda because he's the most mature, steady handed, subtle director I've ever seen. He will never try to create melodrama, instead he will quietly and gently break your heart.

After Life 1998
At the time I searched desperately, inside myself, for any memory of happiness. Now, fifty years later, I learned I was part of someone else's happiness. What a wonderful discovery.
