Prometheus 2012
A collection of arresting visuals and compelling scenes that makes absolutely no sense with plot points abandoned almost as soon as they’re mentioned, odd decisions from reasonably interesting characters competently played by talented actors and a half-hearted attempt to retrofit this into a franchise when really it’s its own thing altogether. Ridley could’ve used a better script but Jesus Christ how many times have we said that recently.
Alien: Covenant is a much better film.

I do feel a little bad that I enjoyed the first episode the most, which charted Marilyn Manson’s rise against the wider context of free speech and conservative America. But this also served to expose his evil hiding in plain site as “shock value”. The rest of the time was mainly dominated by my burning hatred towards his scumcunt lawyer.

There is a BIG difference between watching this as a 19 year old moron and a 31 year old married man. I don't think there's ever been a film that captures the dread and hope of monogamy so accurately while rendering temptation as something so scary and thrilling. The chanting at the sex party haunts my dreams.
