My wife heard me raving about the Puss in Boots film, so bought this for me for my birthday. The wrong Puss in Boots film. Anyway! Was good fun so she did well. Apart from Humpty Dumpty who made me feel sick to the stomach whenever I looked at his hideous face. Sequel 11 years later is a genuine masterpiece. Whodathunk it

Miller's Crossing 1990
Pitch black noir that requires full investment. Not ideal for my donkey brain after a big day of parenting and hosting. Held out for violence and Coens absurdism and on that front it became increasingly rewarding. Worth another look at some point. Turturro MVP.

There is a BIG difference between watching this as a 19 year old moron and a 31 year old married man. I don't think there's ever been a film that captures the dread and hope of monogamy so accurately while rendering temptation as something so scary and thrilling. The chanting at the sex party haunts my dreams.
