The Monkey 2025
I did not expect this to be as goofy as it was, in a positive way. It’s like combining Hot Rod with Final Destination. I get that exactly none of this is grounded and “good” beyond technical filmmaking but Osgood Perkins seems to know what he wants to do as far as horror comedy goes and he nails that tone better here than he did with Longlegs. He’s going to find his sweet spot if he keeps going.

I knew nothing about this other than a brilliant ensemble cast and that some folks were arguing about whether or not this was horror. I'm not sure it is a horror film, but it is a great teardown of art and the culture of privilege and pretentiousness by which it is encircled. A violent Ratatouille.
