Gorgeous film. Crazy to think about it being made in Blender and even crazier that it managed to win the Best Animated Oscar too.

So much to chew on in this, between interpreting what the animals are saying/thinking and the state of the world they're in. Plus it's not afraid to get very weird at times too.

Still though, that capybara is adorable as hell.

Pretty dang great all around, from the performances to the writing that's filled with shouting and swearing in abundance.

Still hilarious that Baldwin gets third billing despite never appearing again after the start.

Delightfully stupid fun with plenty of fan pleasing moments to spare.

But seriously, it definitely feels like the creative team are far more aware of the way Seed/Destiny were received over the years cause so much of the melodramatic parts in here feel intentionally played up, between the over the top close-ups of faces surrounded by sparkles for romantic moments to characters throwing some of the most out of pocket insults. The premiere audience I was with definitely had a good laugh at so much of this so they definitely played the right card.

Very solid start for this new Gundam story, well sorta (no spoilers)

Very fun and vibrant but also still keeping with the overall themes of the franchise, especially with the focus on a section of the main colony where refugees are forced to occupy and are at the whims of the military police (got some flashbacks to THAT sequence in Hathaway just due to the reminder of the scale). The mobile suit fights are also just great as expected, gotta love some well blended CGI work.

Looking forward to when the series starts proper in April.
