    I’m not really a pretentious hack but I play one on Letterboxd so therefore I love Jean-Luc Godard. This is definitely not his best film and the Alpha 60 computer voice sounds like RFK Jr. but otherwise this is a unique blend of French New Wave, sci-fi, and noir. Godard could do it all.

    #me if I had bpd. 

    Mickey 17 is if Avatar and Don’t Look Up had a baby that I could actually love and not neglect out of shame and disdain (I don’t think I should be a dad). 

    The political commentary was very on the nose like Don’t Look Up, but unlike that movie this was really fun and funnier than I expected. I think this particular topic also benefits from being obvious over trying to be subtle. There’s a fine line between talking…

    I can’t remember ever seeing something like this. The first 30 minutes are so so slow and the last 30 minutes are so so ridiculous. But somewhere in between that is an intriguing “story”. Was that a happy accident or was it intentional and then sabotaged by the lack of substance sandwiching the good parts? Perhaps, like what this story is about, we will never know.

    And what better to watch on Valentine’s Day than this, a story to remind us that getting married might not always be such a great idea. RIP Steve, you didn’t deserve this.
