The Idea of You 2024
Ok so I know this isn’t a great movie by any means, and it’s definitely not on my list of best rom coms by far, but still a fun watch and good for the soul. I did enjoy Anne Hathaway’s inner monologue about being a mom and in her 40s. The piano scene and first hotel scene were *chef’s kiss*. The boy band dancing was painful to watch but Anne Hathaway was an adorable groupie. Also! Gave me such strong flashbacks to a very specific middle school book which I’m not mad about.

Talk about the use of shock value and vague one liners to drive home a message. Felt like I was being manipulated into thinking the end was slightly redeeming and satisfying only if I could forget how twisted and choppy the rest of the movie was. The main narrator seemed completely unnecessary, and I think the chapter format hurt the movie more than helped. Only redeeming aspect was the cast.
