“what happened that summer…is a huge part of me”
Finished reading the novel today. This hurts like a million daggers to the heart - yet feels so close like a beacon of light and dazing reassurance. I can recall the first time i watched this film a couple years ago and then it sort of bewildered me, yet i didn’t know that this would stick to me like a tattoo on skin; this film, these characters, these stories overpowered my life and shone a reflection that has set alight to a lot. Cathartic, reframing and life-changing fall short.

I owe everything to Greg Araki. I think it would be impossible to explain how visceral and transcendental his work and especially this film have been to me since I first watched it at 15. There’s not an hour of every day when I don’t think of this movie. This film just understands everything about me. I still remember finishing it for the first time, in utter shock and disbelief after that ending, and that specific feeling of euphoria has just grown bigger after time.

She loved every part of him and every spawn that wasn’t akin to the one before, a boundless connection. Also, the relevancy of the totalitarian situation was surreal; I particularly loved the resemblance of some parts to 1984, like the two minutes of hate with the meeting of Nasha and Mickey and the Big Brother-esque regime. What a cool flick! More like these, please!

A movie that understands so many things that almost no other movie does. The cinematic equivalent of a cigarette. The coolest movie ever. It’s okay with me.

I’ve seen that almost everybody who has seen this movie always says at the end that this is the one movie they would never ever watch again, and I completely 100% understand that. Yet I am on my 4th watch now, and I’m always so drawn to it. I am constantly in awe of it. One of the reasons why I keep coming back to it is because I am in love with this films ANGER. It’s full of deep,…

It’s like the Bible of filming anything and everything. People from every age and mold sitting together in a theatre to swallow this otherworldly and prophetic creation.
