There was loud applause from the audience after the credits rolled, and this was the first time that has ever happened (at least from the ~80 movies I've seen in that theatre). An immaculate film, if I've ever seen one. I won't forget this, and I'm so glad more people will see it because of the Best Pic Nom.
Update: It beat evil and won Best Intl. Pic! Thoroughy deserved. I can't wait to show it to my mom.
#7 - Japanuary 2024
Watched this before bed because it was just 83 minutes long and set in a high school, but wow, I never expected to love it as much as I did!
It has everything you'd want in a movie dealing with teen angst and despondency. It's also beautifully shot with great editing and an awesome soundtrack. This is my first Toshiaki Toyoda film, and I'm now excited to explore more of his work this year.

Maybe the most fun I've had in a theatre in the last ~2yrs. What a uniquely wonderful experience! The only complaint I have is that it was just 75 mins.
