Music biopics are ok even at their best, but I’m a sucker for the performances in this even if the movie itself is just fine. Spent more of it trying to find out the exact model of guitar Monica Bárbaro (who is def a new celebrity crush) is playing than anything else.
My fave performance might actually be Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash tho, dude brought it in his limited time on screen

I’ve never worn heels but I still call bullshit on her jumping from the dock to the boat with those heels on and landing it. Immediately high ankle sprain, six weeks on IR at least, at worst season ending injury.
Still had a great time tho.
When I visited Auschwitz, I remember being struck by how beautiful a day it was in contrast to the horror of what I was there to see. That’s always stuck with me and this movie somehow captured that.
Perhaps the best movie on the banality of evil I’ve seen. The atrocities are only on the periphery and never explicitly seen and when discussed they are discussed as purely logistics. Very effective use of sound to unsettle you as well
