Monster 2023
To describe this movie as a masterpiece is an understatmeant. I loved how Kore-eda showed us each characters perspective and who they thought the ‘monster’ was. In a narrative pattern where Kore-eda sets us up to make the worst assumptions in doing so highlights our bleak and sceptical world view a view that is unravelled through each characters perspective, underscoring that nobody knows the full story. The friendship of Minato and Yori is perfectly presented to show how these deficient conditions and how this cruel world effects their innocence and childhood, causing them to believe that their indifferences make them a monster.
