The Tree of Life 2011

I think I liked this more then days of heaven but honestly I don’t think Terrence malick has quite clicked with me yet. Hoping it all sets in and I can get excited about this as everyone else.
Addendum: this is the magnum opus of not just malick but this style of filmmaking. Beautiful film. But I admire there are some moments that I just don’t resonate with as highly as other. A gorgeous look at life, family, and youth.

They are very different films but I can’t help but think of jeanne dielman not just on a narrative and thematic level but on a visceral one. This is the best film I’ve seen in a minute. It’s a terrible tragedy that we’re given an intimate view of. Great sound design and of course wonderful performances all around.
