God... Antonioni was totally ahead of his time. In love with the way in which he managed to integrate his vivid interest and concern for the feminine perspective.

    The 'maestro del cinema' himself:

"These films not only document the difficulties that attend any emotional relationship as most critics have pointed out, but they also offer a specific analysis of the situation of women in contemporary western society of the 1960’s an analysis that present a sustained attack on the patriarchy, and this attack is surprisingly, for its time, sympathetic toward women as women."

This film is typically an example of: "would have been ten times better if it had been directed by a female director."

Aronofsky's insensitivity towards certain elements detracted from the strength of the characters and led to some uncomfortable stereotyping. Also, the continuous repetition of these elements was rather awkward - did Aronofsky run out of inspiration?

Luckily, the moral of the plot contained a wonderful message about the value of helping people instead of trying to save them.

Just about worth the three meagre stars.

I uncontrollably loved - and laughed out loud during - pretty much all of the scenes. Incómodo!

Needless to say Imma give it 5 cherries, and more. 🍒
