Though certainly not without its joyous moments, there's also a sense of sadness that I didn't expect as the film went on. Even reminded me of THEY SHOOT HORSES and NASHVILLE at times.

If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium 1969
Admittedly some of this has aged about as well as an avocado, but I had an absolute blast following this star-studded cast goof their way through Europe. Tugs at the ol' heartstrings, too.
My jaw dropped when John Cassavetes and Ben Gazzara showed up in one of the opening scenes. Always a treat!
And the scene where Sandy Baron tracks down his family in Venice had me howling.

Can't believe I got to age 35 without ever having seen this before (but, oddly, I've seen both the '76 and '05 remakes years ago).
There is some genuinely scary stuff here. When Kong breaks loose in New York, so does all Hell. And this was definitely pre-code; yowza, some parts are pretty grisly! I was very impressed.

What a pleasant surprise this was! Goes to show you can do a lot with a little, and I was genuinely creeped out for much of it. A bit irritating occasionally, but I suppose that was actually pretty realistic.
