Harold Lloyd really was the first awkward-but-charming romcom leading man. Hugh Grant owes a lot to him! Peggy’s letter at the end was so lovely 🥺🥺🥺 More of a 3.25 rating (I’ve watched too many school-themed films lately, lol) but still super sweet and fun.

A ‘sex hygiene’ exploitation film that I can’t make up my mind about. It advocates for parents teaching their children about sex education, but the education it alludes to has seemingly less to do with protected sex and more about staying chaste until marriage. Both progressive and anti-progressive at the same time. Watched for my 1930s Hollywood schoolgirl dissertation.

I think I loved this even more the second time. The script, the performances, the complexity of the characters and their relationships with each other... it's just perfect! If you want to get into Old Hollywood, watch The Philadelphia Story!!

There were so many moments in the Holdovers that stuck with me - a proper blanket and cup of tea film!
