Perfectly fine princess fare. I had to turn my brain off for a lot of it, as I kept wanting it to reach for ideas/themes that it was never worried about. Obviously I am not the core audience for this movie. Mother Gothel is a highlight, as she provides a slight twist on the "evil step-parent" trope that feels appropriately sour and relatable.
