  Nostalgia is by definition the least authentic of all feelings 

  A ghastly depiction of an American nightmare - an oil soaked, burger munching, gas guzzling, imperialistic hell hole. George Lucas’s fantasy wet dream of a teenage life no one could have possibly had (least of all him, no doubt stuck inside making models) before it all went to shit.

  The 50s/early 60s here is an era looked back on with longing  by men who clearly felt estranged by the reality…
