Brando is electrifying - one of the most intense and terrifying performances I've ever seen. But I found myself drifting off whenever he wasn't on screen. Many of Vivien Leigh's scenes drag on for too long and, unlike most, I found her melodramatic performance a little off-putting, especially next to Brando's naturalistic style.
My first Miyazaki. So wholesome. Top of my list of films to show my daughter when she gets older.
I'm incapable of talking about Boyhood in any kind of rational way. I have a connection with this film unlike any other and I can't fully articulate why. It's comforting, it's painful, it's awkward, it's heartbreaking, it's uplifting. Linklater caught lightening in a bottle here.
There are a lot of clever things going on in Hail, Ceasar! but I couldn't quite clap to its rhythm. It didn't help that I watched it with a very thin and stiff audience. One that gets better with each viewing, I imagine, and I'm looking forward to rewatching it in solitude, as I feel Coen films are best enjoyed.
