  Ariana Grande annoys the Shiz out of me in her role as G(a)linda. While there are some great moments—the finale is the showstopper it deserves to be—the film ultimately shares the same hollowness that I found at the center of the novel when I read it two decades ago. Interesting ideas, but never quite enough meat to make it land for me.

  Cynthia Erivo kicks ass and I'm looking forward to seeing her again. The Chenoweth and Menzel cameos are delightful, if underplayed.
