Shockingly inept. $320 million gone down the Netflix garbage dump, and for what? Big animatronic robots? Pew-pew laser guns? A more-than-a-handful of big name actors who feel like they don't want to be here? Horrible needledrop placements? All for a painfully basic "war and robots bad, love is all around us" messaging?
Embarrassing. If this is what the Russos think is challenging or meaningful art, then Doomsday might be more inevitable than we all think.
Gonna have to marinade on this one for a while! A rewatch might do to hone in my feelings. But my initial feelings are that it's an unadulterated, earnest commentary on the cruelty that capitalism brings upon those whose only purpose is to serve the higher-ups.
