A distinctly Bong Joon Ho film, that features a central magnetic performance (or should I say, performances) by Robert Pattinson. Heβs juxtaposition of personas across his multiple Mickeys and namely between Mickey 17 and Mickey 18 require such a mastery of oneβs craft. We are simultaneously treated to Pattinsonβs ability to play two versions of the same people, but to give enough life that you do feel them as separate and distinctive people, which is part of the point.

What an exhilarating ride, led by three sensational performances. Zendaya is breathtaking and completely magnetic, sitting firmly in the center of the love triangle between Michael Faist and Josh OβConner. Faist I have a bit of history with but where did OβConner come from? He is dynamic and has such incredible chemistry with Zendaya. I am buying ALL of his stock.
The tennis scenes are excellent and the sound mixing is so different and distinctive from anything Iβve seen before.β¦
The stories are gripping and the subject matter is so sad and so real. As somebody that couldnβt take leave for any of my three kiddos, this hits close to home. The interwoven graphics that paint a picture that situates the issue globally is well done. However, itβs a one-sided documentary, that paints the lack of government intervention as the big bad boogie man. I was really hoping to learn more about opposing viewpoints on the issue and that was a glaring omission.Β
Rebecca doesnβt click with me in the same way that many other Hitchcock films do, but it certainly has its moments and has key signatures that make it feel at home with some of his great works. We are treated to the toils and trials of socialites and the best moments of the film feature small and intimate conversations that add to the suspense of the narrative. Many will say that this is one of Will Farrellβs weaker films and those people are wrong. This is a guilty pleasure favorite that I find hilarious. It is so absurd, so quotable, so fun.Β
Four important takeaways from this film: (1) never mess with the elves; (2) Kevin Swain can do anything; (3) Dan Stevens doing βLion Loverβ is everything; and, (4) Jaja Ding Dong!
This is the latest in the adaptations of Bram Stokerβs Dracula novel and specifically a remake of the now 102 year old seminal film adaptation of the text, Nosferatu. I continue to be so impressed by the filmmaking of Robert Eggers, who has such a command of the use of light and shadows in the way in which he shoots scenes (I instantly was reminded of the technical filmmaking of The Lighthouse), creates mystery and intrigue, or builds tension.
