amazing screenplay. and christian bale is amazing. amazing portrayal of a complete breakdown and detachment from reality and also just amazing portrayal of a charismatic asshole.
super funny film, genuinely is one of its biggest strengths because without its humour it falls apart. such a perfect culture and era to throw a character like this into because it completely works. “i’m not even hungry i’d just like to have reservations somewhere” is so succinct. good ratio of sex to murder. lacking in chloe sevigny.

an amazing character study. like that’s it’s strength easily. i also like how well directed it is without being showy, given that’s what we’re seeing lou do every night. jake gyllenhall is amazing. obviously.
the crosses of ethics and legality is fun and interesting. good screenplay. i don’t know my brain is lagging today a bit but a lot of good stuff to chew on. riz ahmed and rene russo also do incredible work to flesh out their characters into complex, weird people too. just a lot of good stuff
