  while on one hand i can understand why people would find the usage of MPB/tropicália as mere gestures towards an international audience who likely encounter this music as their primary Brazilian cultural export, i think i'm just happy that this invokes a time and place in which artists were genuinely vehicles of social change. in the 21st century it is very easy to forget the legitimate interest musicians and artists across different countries had in lasting social change in comparison…
