Although highly regarded by critics, I did not find this film as engaging or thought-provoking as it could have been. At times, it felt comical, flat, and bland, which was unexpected. The concept of playing chess with Death had immense potential, but I believe the film missed an opportunity by not focusing more on Block's character or Death itself.
