A tale of revenge, toxic relationships and couture. Who is more dysfunctional? Reynolds? Alma? Cyril? I can’t decide, but the lengths they will go to love one another is impressive. Deliciously complex characters escorting a brutal love story through a stunning backdrop of British interiors and dressmaking.
Watched this on a flight to Dallas. Did you know on the Criterion app you can download movies for offline viewing?! Fantastic. Back to the movie, a slow creeping dread for all the ways humanity abuses the earth. More subtle than I anticipated but enjoyable nonetheless. The score is amazing wow in headphones I heard every crinkle and crackle of wet snow and splinter of chopped firewood. Worth a watch.
The underwater assassination of the priest is tops for this one. A dark ending more so than the usual Lone Wolf movie. Can’t wait to see the next one!
It’s weird but good. The score is nuts. Visually saturated. Some absolutely stunning shots. Artsy. Really artsy snobbish cool. But there’s something clunky about it, camerawork in the first 20 minutes, some set design holds it back from its greatness. Maybe too I wanted it to burn hotter and jump less. A great psychotronic fever dream of color theory and witchcraft.
