on a serious note, while i do appreciate the message and think the movie definitely fulfills what i interpreted to be the director’s vision, i simply do not enjoy the body horror genre. for me, it is less tolerable than normal horror. so, objectively, is this film bad? probably not, but no one will state my opinions for me so i must be true to my subjective view, no matter how biased it is.
a compelling narrative with strong performances but the tonal inconsistency undercuts a lot of the dramatic moments, especially the ending. the characters lack depth but given that the movie never aims to be a character drama, this is not a flaw; however, i would be more invested if the characters were more memorable.
although this movie's individual components are already quite good, it's the performances that really sell this movie. Ellie Lambeti makes full use of every moment she is on screen to make you empathize with a woman living in a society that objectifies and demeans her.
