    Despite starting with a pretty naive and condescendingly orientalist narration, Rossellini saves this film by turning it into a simple series of fables, told on the background of Indian nature, society and traditions, viewed by a playful and curious camera, exploring variations of humans and nature's relationship, at times brutal, without getting too close or too far from it's subjects. Finishing off by a disturbing but poetic tale of a chained domesticated monkey, whom master dies and leaves her alone, possibly influenced by one of the best Iranian short stories ever written, The Monkey Whose Master Had Died by Sadegh Choobak.

    I've grown to like Damirkubuz's cinema. He's so stubborn in his unforgiving approach to filmmaking, maybe as a consequence of how he sees life. Unlike his contemporaries in Turkish or Iranaian cinema, there's no poetic dialogue or beautiful long shots here. Most of his scenes happen in medium shot, basically without lighting, camera is quiet, stable and an observer, without much power to interfere with the destiny of the characters.
